Even if Lorenzo has been working in Modena for 6 years now, the city's cosy and warm historical centre was not the place where their walks crossed.
They first met in Marseille, on a November night in 2004. He was living and working there at the time. On the contrary, Paola was brought there by her studies. She had to participate in a series of conferences on the Haitian Culture. It was after one of those conferences, during a dinner organised for the event that they were introduced to each other. She told him she was from Modena and he told her that the following year he would move there to work as a teacher. Neither of them seemed interested in the other! After that night there was a short exchange of e-mails and everything ended.
Just as planned, Lorenzo moved to Modena in September 2005. He started teaching, and went on with his aikido practice. He used to train in a dojo just a stone's throw away from the place he lived and he kept on going there for three years. One day, willing to change something in his life, he started training in another dojo: A.S.I.A. Modena. At the end of May 2009, before starting a lesson there, he saw a woman who looked just like Paola. He didn't have time to talk to her and she didn't even see him. When Lorenzo went home he looked for Paola's e-mail address in his e-mail box and wrote her a few lines. Paola answered, they exchanged their phone numbers but didn't get to meet. They were both too busy at the moment. Later on Lorenzo went to England, then to Salerno and got back to Modena in September. In the meantime Paola went to Martinique, then back to Modena.
At the end of October Lorenzo got a text message from Paola inviting him to the presentation of her latest book. He went there and as soon as he saw her he was sure something strange would happen. They started dating, fell in love with each other and much to everybody's surprise they are getting married in December 2011!
Wow, ma sei diventata una professionista di blog... comincio a fare fatica a seguirti! Tanti auguri per il favoloso evento, ormai dopo qualche mese sarai già entrata nella routine di una vita a due! Bella vero?
RispondiEliminaNon vorrei fare il professore, ma nel paragrafo dove spieghi come vi sieti incontrati penso ci sia un piccolo errorino (di digitazione ovviamente) hai scritto: "He told him she was from Modena" credo volevi scrivere "She told him she was from Modena". Prendi questa segnalazione con le pinze, perchè il mio inglese è veramente scandaloso....
